Audio Review: the Book of Psalms Read by Michael York
Michael York has a wonderful reading voice for the Psalms
In my imagination, I think that the Psalms read by Michael York are read as if commissioned by King David. I can’t say as if King David himself were reading the Psalms, for that isn’t as accurate as the former, for the reading is clearly one spoken with eloquence fit for any hearer, even King David. High praise, are those remarks, and this collection of The Psalms are worth such praise.
The style of the reading is clear, musical without musical background but punctuated by musical notes between readings. The imagination given by Michael York, and there is that high praise again for this reading of 150 Psalms, comes through for these are rich and moving readings that involve the listener. I have had a set of these tapes for many years, given one set as a gift only to discover that they are to be found only among the used category for sale. Sadly, there will be a time when the set may go out of print. This is my second set of this collection.
As a note of comparison, there is a collection of readings of the King James Version of the Bible’s New Testament read by Gregory Peck. Like Mr. Peck, Mr. York has a distinct voice that shows he is a noteworthy voice of merit and offers an understanding of what he is reading, without getting in the way of the words or the text. To say that he is a man with a trained voice and excellent diction, like Mr. Gregory Peck, is to my way of thinking and listening accurate.
I have a number of “recorded” readings of Biblical material, including Gregory Peck, Sir Laurence Olivier, Alexander Scourby, and the out of print “The Bible” (the Old Testament in King James Version) read by numbers of actors with excellent voices. Michael York’s reading of The Psalms is certainly a central part of my collection of such audio recordings, and his voice is as distinct and memorable as any, if not more so. Hear him say, “Selah,” and you will know there is quality to both the recording and his interpretation.
For a complete, unabridged reading of the King James Version of The Psalms, one can be pleased to own and listen to this understandable and distinguished recording where Michael York reads memorably and so well these wonderful words of The Psalms.

11:11 Hosea & Isaiah 11 Akhenaten Obama God’s Coming

11:11 Hosea & Isaiah 11 Akhenaten Obama God’s Coming
11:11 Hosea & Isaiah 11 Akhenaten Obama Godâs ComingÂ
Most people donât know that the 11:11 and 12:12 Gate (Door) Ways (First and Second Gate) are talked about through out the Holy Bible. How does President Pharaoh Akhenaten (Obama) tie in with Godâs promise to âopenâ the 11:11 and 12:12 Gate (Door) Ways to humans on Earth?Â
The Bible books Hosea and Isaiah Chapters 11, Acts Chapter 12 and many other Bible verses talk about the Ascension to God Openness through the 11:11 and 12:12 Gate (Door) Ways. Ancient Egypt (which is a primary basis for Biblical concepts) also taught about this Ascension (Oneness With God-Image of God).Â
Letâs study these chapters:Â
Hosea 11:1 When Israel [was] a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt (the calling is when God comes to Earth as the Beast (son) and “takes” His wifely class. Egypt denotes Pharaoh as the God-Man).
Hsa 11:2 [As] they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim (the Book of Hosea clearly defines the God YAHWEH/Jehovah as Baal. God even confirms âthat they will no longer call me âBaaliââ. From the stumped tree in the Book of Daniel, to the Tammuz Cross of the book of Ezekiel, to the Queen of Heaven (Asthoreth) in 1 Kings Chapter 23, to the Christmas Tree, To Jesus-Beelzebub, To YAHWEH and Jesus who were both âriders of the cloud (Baal-the rider of the Clouds), and Gods Who came in Wind Storms (all things that Baal did First)-the entire Bible is about the God Baal who came to be called âJesusâ and âYAHWEHâ), and burned (the fiery, consuming Regeneration-Matthew 19:28; Exodus 24:18) incense to graven images (these fiery images are humans being Regenerated into Angels of Fire or Godâs Image (Oneness-Sons of God-John 10:30-44; Genesis 6:1-10)-Psalm 104:1-10. Psalm 104 was actually âwritten (influenced)â by Pharaoh Akhenaten who is Moses/Jesus-the Son of God/Leviathan the Beast of the River/Sea/Space (Ezekiel 29:3; Revelation 13:1-end; Revelation 17:10-16) and the Ark of the Covenant (Moses was placed in an Ark and placed in the River/Sea), Jesus said that the Ark would be seen again at the End of the World (Matthew 24:3-47; Revelation 11:1-end).
Hsa 11:3 I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
Hsa 11:4 I drew (out of the bottomless pit) them with cords ( ropes-bindings-baal stump bound by serpent, play on words-cards) of a man (God-man on Earth), with bands (the binding captivity of the Serpent-Bail) of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
Hsa 11:5 He shall not return into the land of Egypt (Egypt-Pharaoh-Return-Regeneration), but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
Hsa 11:6 And the sword shall abide (sword son of god comes to earth) on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour [them] (serpent, lion does the devouring and consuming, God is the consuming fire), because of their own counsels.
Hsa 11:7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt [him].
Hsa 11:8 How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? [how] shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? [how] shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.
Hsa 11:9 I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I [am] God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.
Hsa 11:10 They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion (1 Peter 1:5-8 Satan seeking to devour and consume): when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west (the east the Sun/Son God , the west is the Bottomless Pit)
Hsa 11:11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
Hsa 11:12 Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit (Pharaoh and Satan): but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; (This Branch has God’s Spirit because He is Captain of God’s Army-Joshua 5)
Isa 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
Isa 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth (serpent), and with the breath (Dragon) of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
Isa 11:5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
Isa 11:6 The wolf (anpu baal) also shall dwell with the lamb (humans who will be betrayed, delivered up), and the leopard (cushites-ethiopian priestly class) shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child (man child regenerated sons of God) shall lead them.
Isa 11:7 And the cow and the bear (bear, time of trouble, 42 months, regeneration, wife of God, Elijah, Elisha’s bear) shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox-Baal God Beast
Isa 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. (den of lions-sea-beast-psalm 104:20-27)
Isa 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain (nether-Exodus 19:1-17): for the earth (feminine God-the bottomless Pit-the sea-God’s Wife-God’s Knowledge-Wisdom) shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Isa 11:10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign (Michael stands up-Pharaoh on Earth-Daniel 11:40-44) of the people; to it shall the Gentiles (God’s Angelic Army-time of the Gentiles, the 144,000, 42 months-Satan on Earth, the three woes, 1260 months) seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
Isa 11:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the Lord shall set his hand again the second (Peter and Michaels second gate-Acts 12 the 12:12?) time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
Isa 11:12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
Isa 11:13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.
Isa 11:14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west (bottomless pit-feminine black God-Mother Hen gathers her chicks); they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.
Isa 11:15 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea (The Tongue of Egypt is Pharaoh Akhenaten. He is the Son or Word (Tongue) of God. Pharaoh Akhenaten is also the Beast of the Sea or The Beast of the River (Ezekiel 29:3). Let’s remember that Moses (who was really Pharaoh Akhenaten) was also placed in an Ark (Jesus is the Ark of the Covenant) and placed into the River (sea); and with his mighty wind (Jesus as Baal or Beelzebub riding and Coming in the Winds of God’s Angelic “Hand” army) shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make [men] go over dryshod (The Bible uses the word “dry” to denote or symbolize the Regeneration change of humans from “flesh (water)” to spirit (God’s Earth-the “dry land”-sands of the sea).
Isa 11:16 And there shall be an highway (ascension) for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like (the likeness or image of God is human’s next “ascension”) as it was to Israel in the day that he came up (lifted up-Ascended) out of the land of Egypt (Pharaoh Akhenaten’s land is the bottomless pit-sea-space where he rules as Leviathan the Beast (Psalm 104:20-27; Ezekiel 29:3; Revelation 13:1-end; Revelation 17:1-16).
The Bible says that God sent His Son at the “Last” (John 6:1-56) or at the End of the Age. The Bible is about that Serpent Pharaoh of Egypt (Baal-Akhenaten) being Cast to Earth with Armies of ‘Alien’ Angels (Hebrews 11: 30 (Barak)-34; Genesis 6:1-10; Matthew 24:3, 40-44; Matthew 25:30-44; Revelation 12:1-16; John 3:14-16; Job 1:1-10) at the End.

Why Queen Esther of the Bible Remains a Controversial Figure

Why Queen Esther of the Bible Remains a Controversial Figure
The book of Esther is a story in the Bible about a powerful woman who plays power politics in the court of King Xerxes, one of the greatest and most ruthless historical figures of the ancient world. Esther risks her life in a game of high-stakes politics and manages to save the Jewish people. That alone would make the book of Esther one of the most unusual books in all of Scripture. But add one more thing to make it stand out. It’s the only book in all of the Bible (Old and New Testaments) that does not mention God.
Not only is God not mentioned, neither is prayer.
There are also some peculiar nuances to the book of Esther. For instance, at the outset of the book, the young Jewish heroine of the story is named Hadassah but she ditches her Jewish name in favor of the more popular Persian name of Esther (the book of Esther takes place in ancient Persia).
When the young Esther is made Queen of Persia through her marriage to King Xerxes, her cousin (who was also her guardian) warns her not to tell her husband or anyone else at court that she is Jewish. She keeps that promise as long as she can.
This does not exactly seem like a story about one of the great heroines of Scripture! Here is a person who camouflages her faith, does not mention God, does not ever mention that she has prayed … but is nevertheless considered one of the great figures in the history of the Jewish and Christian faiths.
Most commentators agree that the absence of the word God is actually a literary device in the story that underscores one of the book’s central messages. This message is the rather old-fashioned word of “providence.” Providence means that God’s divine will is fulfilled, even in people who are not believers in God (like Esther’s husband, King Xerxes, who was a pagan), even in situations where God is not overtly acknowledged, and even at times when people do not necessarily act “religious.”
This is not to say that the omission of God’s name in the story of Esther means that Esther did not believe in Him. There is considerable evidence in the story that Esther–at least in the second half of the story–has strong faith. Prayer is not mentioned once in the book of Esther, but it is implied. Maybe it occurred, maybe it did not.
The providence factor holds that God is able to accomplish His plan even if every human player lets Him down.
The plan in Esther is a complicated one that rivals any Alfred Hitchcock suspense plot for twists and turns. King Xerxes, her husband, is tricked into signing a decree that would legalize the killing of all the Jews in Persia. This plan is the brainchild of the evil Haman, possibly the greatest arch-villain of all Scripture (besides Satan, of course). (Hitler is considered a kind of Haman figure.) King Xerxes agrees with Haman’s plan and even signs it into law without realizing that his beloved wife Esther is Jewish and that he is, in effect, signing her death certificate.
At the same time, Esther and her cousin know that something must be done to undo the damage of this genocidal edict but there is a catch. According to the Bible, no law in ancient Persia could ever be repealed, not even by the king himself. The bold and extremely clever Esther manages to play power politics–sometimes from within the confines of the king’s harem. Esther knows that even the slightest mistake could wind up costing her life.
Esther manages to not only expose Haman’s plan but to figure out a way to save the Jewish nation.
All without mentioning God. Since the book is about Providence, commentators say that God had always planned to spare His chosen people, the Jews. There was no way that a plan like Haman’s (or later, Hitler’s) could succeed in destroying all Jews. God used whom and what He needed to help Esther “save” her people, although, in fact, it was God’s providence that worked through her.
For commentators, Esther is the ultimate story about how coincidence is never really random and how God can work through the most seemingly impossible circumstances.

Controversies in Adoption Process Highlighted in Self Published Book
The recent efforts of international pop star, Madonna, to adopt another child from the nation of Malawi has yet again placed the issue of celebrity adoption on the spotlight. The singer has drawn criticism from human rights groups, adoption officials and people questioning her morality and capability to take care of more children.
Last year, Madonna adopted Malawian baby boy David Banda Mwale amid much controversy as Malawian law requires would-be parents to reside in country for one year before adopting. A similar contention has arisen in light of the star’s recent efforts to adopt another Malawian child.
Concerns such as the prospective adoptive parents’ moral standing and ability to provide emotional security for children being adopted are but some of the issues raised against Madonna’s attempt to adopt four-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James.
Malawi’s child welfare chief, Simon Chisale, said, “We do not only look at the material issues, but also the moral standing of prospective adoptive parents, because we do not want our children’s morals to be corrupted,” he said.
Warren Panem, author of the self-published book ‘Chronicle of an Adoption’ is no stranger to controversies and issues that prospective adoptive parents face. Although the stories in his book are not as controversial as the Material Girl’s scenario, they are nevertheless just as time-consuming and testing. The experiences of couples who went through the adoption process are tools that Panem hopes will enabled many to understand that adopting a child may not be as easy as it seems.
Panem details the ins and outs of getting in touch with different agencies, sifting through lies, and endless meetings in the process of putting a family together. People who are thinking about adoption, going through the process, have had a failure or success, or have anything to do with adoption, you will enjoy reading about it in this Xlibris published book.
Chronicles of an Adoption recalls the frustrating times, the moments of hope, the crushed aspirations and the final success in adopting a child.

A Great Way to Started on Writing E-book Marketing!
A great way to have a product to sell on the internet is an e-book which almost anyone can create. If you’ve been delaying on writing your own, try this easy process below. Many authors aren’t even the real authors as they have employed ghost writers to help them because they do not feel comfortable writing on their own.
The subject of your e-book is quite easy to work out if you have an interest in a specific area, why not write some articles and get the feed back on whether people are willing to pay for this information. By writing the articles it provides practice and they are easier to do but they can also be used later to help promote your book in all sorts of online areas. This is a simple process whereby the promotional articles are sent to directories for insertion; the number of views they get will provide a good indication just how much interest there is in the subject.
The overall structure can be a work in progress while the article content is being written. Most books are set out with an introduction, for more detail visit www.make-your-ebook-sell.com the main topic and then a conclusion but you may want to add a resource section as well which is quite normal these days. Many books now contain bonus material to give it more value and increase the number of people that buy it. By writing the articles it provides practice and they are easier to do but they can also be used later to help promote your book in all sorts of online areas. This is a simple process whereby the promotional articles are sent to directories for insertion; the number of views they get will provide a good indication just how much interest there is in the subject.
As you complete your articles, insert them into your e-Book, the number of articles you require will depend on the overall length. For more detail visit www.ebook-marketing-exposed.com there is less room for error with e-books and no room for unnecessary information to clutter them so don’t make it longer than about 50 to 60 pages. If you stay close to the subject it will be easier for readers because computer screens are not the best medium for reading on.
If you want to give further value to your e-book then why not research some additional information which you can add as a bonus. Your bonus material could include a small report (just write two or three additional articles), checklists, or add templates. Any extra material you supply will need to be worthwhile on its own and be related to your e-book subject.

Finding a Word From God Through a Book

Finding a Word From God Through a Book
Many people receive a message in a book. Many people enjoy reading books.
www.BusinessOnlineGuide.net specializes in Business and Christian Books from your favorite Authors.
I love reading books especially the word of God to get me through the hour, day and my life.
Life isn’t the sweetest candy. Sometimes, when I feel like the world is just too heavy, I look around and find people who continued to live fascinating and wonderful lives. Suddenly, thoughts come popping into my mind like bubbles from nowhere – “How did their life become so adorably sweet? How come they still can manage to laugh and play around despite a busy stressful life?” Then I pause and observed for awhile… I figured out that maybe, they start to work on a place called ‘self’.
So, how does one become genuinely happy? Step 1 is to love yourself and God.
The Bible says the following:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
My theology professor once said that “loving means accepting.” To love oneself means to accept that you are not a perfect being, but behind the imperfections must lie a great ounce of courage to be able to discover ways on how to improve your repertoire to recover from our mistakes.
Genuine happiness also pertains to contentment. When you are contented with the job you have, the way you look, with your family, your friends, the place you live in, your car, and all the things you now have – truly, you know the answer to the question “How to be genuinely happy.”
When we discover a small start somewhere from within, that small start will eventually lead to something else, and to something else. But if you keep questioning life lit it has never done you any good, you will never be able to find genuine happiness.
I believe that life is about finding out about right and wrong, trying and failing, wining and losing. These are things that happen as often as you inhale and exhale. Failure, in a person’s life has become as abundant and necessary as air. But this should not hinder us from becoming happy.
How to be genuinely happy in spite all these? I tell you… every time you exert effort to improve the quality of life and your being, whether it is cleaning up your room, helping a friend, taking care of your sick dog, fail on board exams and trying again, life gives you equivalent points for that simple task – job well done.
Imagine life as a big score board like those which are used in the NFL’s. Every time you take a step forward, you make scoring points. Wouldn’t it be nice to look at that board at the end of each game and think to yourself “Whew! I got a point today. I’m glad I gave it a shot.”, instead of looking at it all blank and murmur “Geez, I didn’t even hit a score today. I wish I had the guts to try out. We could have won!” and then walk away.
The Bible says the following:
For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. Deuteronomy 30:16 (NIV)
Genuine happiness isn’t about driving the hottest Formula 1 car, neither is it getting the employee of the year award, earning the highest 13th month pay, or beating the sales quota. Sometimes, the most sought after prizes in life doesn’t always go to the fastest, the strongest, the bravest or not even the best. So, how do you become genuinely happy? Every one has his own definition of ‘happiness’. Happiness for a writer may mean launching as much best selling books as possible. Happiness for a basketball rookie may mean getting the rookie of the year award. Happiness for a beggar may mean a lot of money. Happiness for a business man may mean success. So, really now, how do we become genuinely happy? Simple. You don’t have to have the best things in this world. It is about doing and making the best out of every single thing. It is also about finding the good in everything. When you find yourself smiling at your own mistake and telling your self “Oh, I’ll do better next time”, you carry with you a flame of strong will power to persevere that may spread out like a brush fire. You possess a willingness to stand up again and try – that will make you a genuinely happy person.
When you learn to accept yourself, love the Lord and accept that you are not perfect by accepting your own faults. You pass step 1 in the project “how to become genuinely happy”. For as long as you know how to accept others, you will also be accepted. For as long as you love and know how to love, you will receive love ten folds back.
Again, throw me that same question “How to become genuinely happy?”. I’ll refer you to a friend of mine who strongly quoted- “Most of us know that laughter is the best medicine to life’s aches and pain. But most of us don’t know that the best kind of laughter is laughter over self. Because then you don’t just become happy… you become free.”
The bible says the following:
When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in him. John 13:31 (NIV)

As a business owner or as an entrepreneur, you will need to document all your income and expenses for tax purposes. Also, it will serve as a good way to track your finances and make sure that you are not losing money. If you are business owner, you may want to outsource book keeping for your online business.
Why?
There are quite a lot of reasons why you should outsource book keeping services. The first reason is that you will be able to decrease your work load. Instead of doing it yourself, you can have someone do it for you through outsourcing.
Another great advantage in outsourcing book keeping jobs for your online business is that it is much more cost effective than having your own book keeper in the office. This means that you will be able to save more money for your business or minimize your overhead cost.

However, before you get the services of a book keeper and outsource it to a book keeping service company, you have to remember that you need to make sure that the book keeping company you plan on outsourcing your books to should only provide you with the highest
quality of book keeping jobs. You should make sure that their staff is well trained professionals who are experienced in book keeping.
Outsourcing your book keeping jobs is definitely the best way to save you money as well as get your books done in time. It will help you run your business much smoother, and because of the low the price of each book keeping job, you can be sure that it will be much cheaper to outsource it than having an in house book keeper.
Outsourcing jobs can help you cut down a huge amount on your expenses. You will see that you will save a lot more money in a year through outsourcing book keeping jobs, rather than have your very own book keeper working for you full time.
Also, by outsourcing, you can be sure that you will never have to do the book keeping work yourself. By doing so, you will be able to attend to more important things in your business, which means that you will maximize efficiency and profit of your business.

How to write book proposal?
May 30th
How to write book proposal?
You are a first-time writer and you have just finished writing your book, your first book, your dream, your ticket to success, fame, and glory. You feel terrific and on top of the world, don’t you? I know. I have been there, being a writer myself.
But hang on. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that your job is done. It’s only half done, or maybe even less than that. What remains to be done is the critical part of finding a publisher for your book. To do that, you have to write a book proposal, and this article will help you with just that. So here are the steps of writing a book proposal.
Identify the publishers that you want to send your proposals to.
Go to the websites of these publishers and read the guidelines for manuscript submission carefully.
Typically, different publishers have different guidelines.
But most publishers will want a brief synopsis of the book, information about you and your past writing experience, and 2 or 3 sample chapters.
Some publishers accept proposals of books that are complete or close to complete. They do not accept proposals of books that are in the very early or early stages.
Some publishers do not allow simultaneous submissions. Typically, these publishers will be big and good publishers, and if they don’t allow simultaneous submissions, chances are that their turnaround time will be quick too. So it might be worth it to send your manuscript to them and wait till you hear from them. If you get a negative response, you can submit to other publishers.
Some publishers do not accept unsolicited manuscripts and book proposals. Check if this is the case with one of the publishers that you have identified, and if yes, do not send your book proposal to them since there is no point in doing that.Write a good synopsis of your book.
Organize your thoughts.
Write about your book’s subject, theme, plot, and message, and why it will appeal to the readers.
Write a few things about your writing style.

Restrict the overall proposal to at most two pages only.
Choose the best two or three chapters from your book to send along with the proposal.
If the publisher wants you to send a hard copy to them, take a printout of the letter, sample chapters, and make sure to include a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) in the proposal.
If the publisher accepts the book proposal by email, then just ZIP all the contents in a ZIP file and send it to the appropriate address.
That’s it! You are done! Follow these guidelines and your chances of getting a positive response will increase dramatically.
Of course, it has to be said that, ultimately, the response is likely to be positive if your book (as judged by your sample chapters) is good. Most first-time writers get rejected because the quality of their English is just not up to the mark. Being a publisher I have had to read such bad language that it is unbelievable that the writers actually believed that their proposal would be accepted. Even if the books are published, they have very little chance of selling the first edition. Sometimes, if the language is acceptable, the subject matter or the plot is un-cooked or half-cooked. So make sure that you do your absolute best with your book before you submit it to a publisher. Get help from professional editors if you have the means. Even if you find their charges a bit too high for your taste, good editors are worth their weight in gold. They will point out mistakes that you wouldn’t and couldn’t have imagined.
I have written enough. I will now sign off wishing you all the very best for your book proposal and the book.

Baby Sleep Habits Book

Baby Sleep Habits Book
I generally like to start my reviews by saying what I liked about the book I read. In my opinion, the best and most important point made by this book is that sleep is vital for babies. Parents should be on the lookout for signs their child might be suffering from lack of it, and should also make sure their lifestyles do not interfere with their child’s healthy sleep. I also appreciated the author’s input about sleep problems and solutions for older children.
Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child / Your Fussy Baby
I disagreed most with the idea that it is generally a good idea to allow children to cry as long as it takes to get them to sleep at night. Will this method do long term psychological damage? The author says no, and I agree that is probably correct. Okay, so the child won’t be delinquent as a teenager, or hate you as an adult. But as a parent, my question is which method is easiest on the child in the short term, as well as being effective in the long term? Frankly, I don’t want my child to be unnecessarily miserable, even if it’s only for a few nights. Further, I simply couldn’t listen to screaming cries for any length of time without intervention.
For the parent interested in sleep “training”, I think Dr. Richard Ferber offers a better method. Even Dr. Weissbluth admits Ferber’s method’s work- he simply thinks they may be too difficult for some parents to apply. Well, I think a little more difficulty may be worth while if the child has an easier time.
Oddly, Dr. Weissbluth claims to have no problems with the “family bed”. However, I find his family bed advice confusing, and most of the tips he offers throughout the book seem to be incompatible with the practice. If anybody is practicing the family bed, they should definitely go with Dr. William Sears, whose advice is much more compatible with that arrangement. Dr. Sears is also a good choice for those who find Dr. Ferber too harsh and want the gentlest methods possible.
I tend to disagree with the view of some “attachment parents” that babies always develop the sleep habits that are best for them. There are babies who simply need parental leadership here, and there are also babies whose habits are disruptive to the family. So if parents think their baby has a problem, they should read several books about the topic, and adapt the different views to their personal situation and temperment of their individual child. I think that will lead to a better solution than reading just one book and treating it as a bible.

Review: Angela Davis Honors Hero in Frederick Douglass Book

Review: Angela Davis Honors Hero in Frederick Douglass Book
When I was a child, I heard stories about the so-called “activist” Angela Davis. We’d whisper her name in the schoolyard – as if betraying our parents, those very ones who were themselves fooled into thinking that Ms. Davis was truly an “enemy of the state.”
We couldn’t speak of her in our social studies class. And if our afros were too large, we’d have to get them cut – too much like that “troublemaker,” we were told.
So when I received an assignment to review a Frederick Douglass book written by “troublemaker Davis,” those feelings came back to me. I wondered (1) What could Ms. Davis possibly say about Frederick Douglass that hasn’t already been said? and (2) Why should she be the one to say them? Is she even qualified to write a Frederick Douglass book?
I found my answers-and a lot more.
For certain, there are many books that cover the life of Frederick Douglass but this Frederick Douglass book reveals that there was far more to Mr. Douglass than we were taught in school (seriously, how much Black history is ever REALLY taught in public schools, or any other for that matter?) and that even more than a century later, his life is a teaching tool for all of us: Black, White, young, old, rich man, poor man – and that we are all inextricably intertwined – whether you want to believe that or not.
The Review: Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave by Angela Davis
In this Frederick Douglass book, editor Greg Ruggiero opens with a correlation between the life and times of Black slaves vs. the illustrious campaign of then-presidential candidate Barack Obama. He raises the issue of race in America, not from a historical standpoint, but from today-now-with the reminding of the infamous Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the fiasco that almost derailed his friend Obama.
It was during this time that the concept of a Frederick Douglass book began. While reading transcripts by Angela Davis, who also wrote two powerful lectures about Frederick Douglass, Ruggiero describes himself as “riveted” by the thought of introducing these two persons of like-mind to a new generation of young readers, and as he so puts it: “What better political moment could there be to publish these texts and introduce Angela Davis and Frederick Douglass together-two of the most important abolitionist intellectuals in U.S. history?” Hence, the Frederick Douglass book was put into motion.
Ruggiero revisits the 1960s when a paranoid American government arrested a young, multi-lingual scholar, magna cum laude graduate from Brandeis University. Her name: Angela Davis.
To the federal government Davis was a political “trifecta.” This triple threat was young and hip; highly intelligent; and wore her African heritage proudly – as is evident by her mile-high ‘fro.
With President Nixon in the oval office and Ronald Reagan as the Governor of California, Ms. Davis was seen as ‘fresh meat,’ having accepted a two-year teaching post in the philosophy department at the University of California in Los Angeles – especially once word spread that she was a member of the Communist party.
Those were frightening times indeed. It was the era of the Black Panther movement, the Civil Rights movement – and everything in between. White America was not prepared. A lashing out would occur.
Since her year-and-a-half incarceration in the late 1960s, Davis would continue her course as a freedom fighter, a movement worker – not just for Black people, but for women of every creed and color. She would find the correlation between Douglass’ struggles to live free and the women’s movement in her critically acclaimed study published in 1981 titled, Women, Race & Class, a study that linked Douglass with the first women’s rights convention, in which he made a public appearance to appeal for equality for all women regardless of color or status.
This fascinating Frederick Douglass book portrays the best of humanity – and sadly, the worst.
…and this is just the “Editor’s notes” portion of the Frederick Douglass book.
Man dominates Man…
Frederick Douglass himself gives us a somber glimpse into his daily existence. For those of us who’d like to believe we knew what that life entailed (because we’ve seen Alex Haley’s Roots), we couldn’t be further from the truth. The brutality with which Douglass endured was nothing short of incredible.
It wasn’t just the beatings, but the helplessness. Douglass describes “the most heart-rending shrieks of an own aunt of mine, whom he [the overseer] used to tie up to a joist, and whip upon her naked back till she was literally covered with blood.” There were numerous incidences when his master would appear out of nowhere – as if to be all places at all times – so as to “catch” some slave at some sort of treacherous act, when their only treachery, if indeed it was treachery, was Black at birth.
Reasons for beatings became so common it seemed Douglass was beaten just because it was Tuesday.
But as much brutality, violence and pillaging is described in this Frederick Douglass book, both Davis and Douglass also bring us hope.
In his description of the day he stood toe-to-toe with “The Snake,” the slave-owner (or “slave-breaker” as Davis calls him), Douglass reveals how he ‘became the master and the master became the slave.’ On that day Master Covey attacked Douglass, who fought back. Point for point, the teen proved stronger, stood taller than Covey was accustomed.
Calling for help from his nearby slaves-all of whom refused-Covey realized he was a beaten man. He lost something that day-the last day he would attempt to whip Douglass.
In her most diplomatic method, Davis proves what I never realized until now: The Black American slave era was not so much about Blacks and slavery as it was about the state of all humanity. In his moment of truth, Covey proved as much a victim of slavery as his own slaves. That era changed us all: Blacks, White, rich, poor – we were all affected, whether for the better, or for the worst-we were all affected.
Today the late, great Frederick Douglass is known as an abolitionist, freedom fighter, orator and fighter for the underdog – all those things. And Davis has shown to be a formidable opponent, gaining respect even from her former enemies. She continues the struggle even today.
Yes, Davis is more than adequately qualified to pen this Frederick Douglass book.
Their lives connected through resistance, through adversity, hatred and fear, Davis shows in this very compelling volume that Frederick Douglass was simply a man. And what all men and women were meant to be…free.
