Faith Healing: Why Doesn’t God Heal All?
Here is the question I will tackle because numerous people in the last little while have approached me thinking that this is a loaded question that somehow single-handedly defeats all reason to believe in divine healing:
If it’s God’s will that all should be healed, then there would be no sicknesses or diseases in the world at all, would there not?
I hope respectfully to show that this is a weak and misguided argument. Merely pointing out the fact of something being God’s will and pointing to the statistics of it not happening 100% of the time doesn’t make God a liar when He says His arm is not to short to save, nor does it mean He is unable or unwilling to carry out His will concerning a matter.
For example 2 Peter 3:9 clearly states that it is not the Father’s will that any should perish. But I ask you, are all saved? Other blog entries of mine on this site cover the issue of healing being just as much a part of the same atonement or act of redemption on the cross of Calvary as the purchase of men’s souls & forgiveness of sin, therefore time will not be given to proving that point in this entry. However, if we glean from what we know concerning God’s will where salvation is concerned, then we can see that just because something is God’s will doesn’t guarantee that thing–be it peoples’ salvation or peoples’ physical healing–happens 100% of the time.
So a another question poses itself out of this–why is this the case? Why not 100% of the time? Since God is not willing that any should perish and since He’s not the author of sickness and disease anymore than He could be the author of sin, we need to search the Scriptures to see how come for example He doesn’t overpower every single muslim, hindu, buddhist, jew, or atheist [or any other person of any thought] and make them believe in Jesus. We have one answer in texts like Matthew 28:18-20: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Right there lies your answer for why all have not been saved. Jesus didn’t say He would do it Himself. He told his disciples in this passage to go and teach what they’ve been taught. They had already been instructed before that freely they have received, therefore freely give–including the authority to cast out demons and heal the sick.
I see a connection in the great commission in “all authority has been given to me [Jesus]” with “THEREFORE [you] Go”. This seems simple enough to me. But you may object that these instructions were given only to the apostles, and not all of the Church universal over the centuries since. If it weren’t for passages like Mark 16:15-18, that would almost work:
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
The text does not say “these signs will accompany only the 12 disciples” and, I also would hate to mention Paul was not one of the original 12, or Stephen in Acts 7 who also performed miracles and healed people brought to him.
May I submit to you for consideration that the reason we teach and believe things like “miracles/healing were for the original church” come from looking at our own lives, seeing we don’t have what the Bible says we have, and then re-interpreting the Bible to match our circumstances, instead of changing, by faith, our circumstances to match what the Word teaches?
The believer is endued with God’s Spirit, whom Jesus said it was a good thing we had, because we would do the things he did and more:
But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. (John 16:7)
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. (John 14:12-13)
Does the word ‘anyone’ mean only a certain group of individuals, or anyone? Does the statement “will do what I have been doing” mean exactly what it says, or if not, then what does it mean?
It seems to me that Scripture means what Scripture says. WE will do these things. A lot of believers don’t because they don’t believe they can. We categorize Jesus into a class all by Himself (rightly so in some respects), but when it comes to just obeying the Word and doing things He has told us we can and should do to GLORIFY Him and His name, then we are not following Scripture when we say things like “only He heals and not us”–when He doesn’t teach that in the Word.
2 Corinthians 5:20 teaches that we are Christ’s ambassadors. What is an ambassador and what does one do? According to the Greek, this is a ‘representative’. www.dictionary.com states the following definitions:
A diplomatic official of the highest rank appointed and accredited as representative in residence by one government or sovereign to another, usually for a specific length of time. A diplomatic official heading his or her country’s permanent mission to certain international organizations, such as the United Nations. An authorized messenger or representative. An unofficial representative: ambassadors of goodwill.
An ambassador represents his homeland. The believer’s citizenship is in heaven (Phil 3:20), and we represent what our homeland stands for or represents. In heaven, there is no sickness, disease or sin. Notice the second definition used states we are on a ‘permanent mission’. As long as we are alive on this earth, our mission is not complete. An ambassador has been granted authority to both act and speak according his headquarters’ will–we carry out the will of that leader ourselves. What is God’s will? The answers are represented in the Great Commission passages cited above.
To get back to the question of why don’t all get healed, or saved: there is great responsibility on us–God has done His part by sending His Son to die on the cross. Isaiah 53 spells out in detail both infirmities and iniquities are put on Him, and when Peter quotes this passage, he says it in the past tense: “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24).
Friends, lets stop using a double standard where the will of God concerning healing is concerned that we don’t apply to the will of God concerning salvation. The reason we see less of healing than we ought is because WE are doing less with the Gospel in proportion to the authority we’ve been given. Nations are not being touched with the Gospel because of the lack of laborers, not because of a lack of it being God’s will.

Christian Networks– the Platform to Share Freely
The Christian networks refer to a web of connections through which people of Christian beliefs can stay in touch with each other. In a cosmic world like today, people can use Internet to communicate in terms of building a relationship – be it a professional or personal. And what’s better than communicating with an individual of similar belief. For many, Christian networks exist as an effective platform to interact and communicate with each other.
Be it in the form of Christian forums or social networking groups, people of similar faith can converse with each other; share thoughts; and even work towards generating business leads. No wonder, chat, view videos, send emails, e-cards, and sometimes offer some events like cruise offers.
Some Christian networks are devoted entirely to business, while others exist for developing friendships. Whatever is the reason and the respective way of pursuing the same, these sites are important to form network and forge relationships with like-minded individuals. If these people are Christian, then Christian business networking forums can provide an ideal way of making these connections.
Besides online networking relations, clubs and local organizations make excellent single Christian networks also. Christian clubs help members to effectively interact in person by holding conventions. Such gatherings work as the platform for effective communication. So, be it about business, philosophical, religious or social reasons people get to share themselves best.
Similarly, in every country, local Christian associations invite Christian people to be a part of their events that comprise of dinners, Bible study, discussions and much more. Christian Cafe, Confidential Christian Introductions, and Solid Rock Singles are some of the forums of such organizations.
Online Christina networks work in the similar way. The virtual platform only adds to the interest of the entire process. Now, people can share freely without being represented with a physical identity.

In Bible versus Quran, Moses put the words in Aaron’s mouth
Jews, Christians and Muslims, all admire Moses as a great prophet. He is considered the greatest prophet in Judaism and he is the most frequently cited Prophet in the Quran.
In the Bible,
The Lord’s anger burned against Moses.
The Lord God made Moses like God to Pharaoh.
The Lord God said unto Moses, you shall be as God to Aaron.
Aaron is Moses’ Prophet.
In the Quran,
Allah’s never ever get angry of Moses.
It is Pharaoh who proclaimed that he is the highest lord!
Moses asked Allah to appoint for him a minister, Aaron, his brother, Moses said: “confirm my strength with him and let him share my task” (verses 20: 29-32).
———————
In the Bible, the verses of Exodus (4:14-16 and 7:1) say:
The anger of Jehovah was kindled against Moses, and he said, is there not Aaron your brother? I know that he can speak well. And you shall speak unto him, and put the words in his mouth: and I will teach you what you shall do. And he shall be your spokesman unto the people. And Jehovah said unto Moses, See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh and Aaron; and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.
———————
In the Quran, Verses 79:15-26 say
Have you, O Muhammad received the story of Moses?
How his Lord called him in the holy valley of “Tuwa”; it is Holy because of its goodness and grace. And Allah said unto Moses:
Go to Pharaoh; he has indeed become rebellious, he is arrogant and too proud and has refused to believe in Allah; he has exceeded all bounds with his disbelief,
And say unto him: Would you purify yourself by bearing witness that there is no god but Allah; O Pharaoh would you become righteous, surrender and believe in Allah’s divine Oneness?
And then I will guide you to your Lord, to show you how to know Him by way of proofs, so that you may have fear of Him
So Moses showed him the tremendous token, the hand and the staff.
But Pharaoh denied Moses and disobeyed Allah.
Then he turned his back, to faith, to think what to do about Moses, going about in haste, throughout the land causing corruption.
Then he gathered the sorcerers and his armies and proclaimed,
And Pharaoh said, ‘I am your most high lord!’ above whom is no other lord.
So Allah seized him and punished him and made him an example for the after life and for the former. The punishment that he suffered in the life of the world is drowning and the punishment of the Hereafter will be in the Eternal Fire.
It is also said that this means: Allah has punished him because of his former and latter pronouncements. His first pronouncement being: “I do not know of any other god for you except Me” [verse. 28:38] and the second being “I am your Lord the Highest” in these verses.
It is said that there is an interval of 40 years between the first and second pronouncements.
Assuredly in that, which Allah did to Pharaoh and his host, is a lesson and is a moral for the one who fears Allah, exalted be He.
———————
The Bible (King James Version)
Exodus 4:14-16
14And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.
15And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.
16And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.
Exodus 7:1
1And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
———————
Verses 79:15-26 (Yusuf Ali translation)
15. Has the story of Moses reached thee?
16. Behold, thy lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:-
17. Go thou to pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds:
18. And say to him, ‘wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?-
19. And that I guide thee to thy lord, so thou shouldst fear him?
20. Then did (Moses) show him the great sign.
21. But (pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance);
22. Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah).
23. Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation,
24. Saying, “I am your lord, most high”.
25. But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, – in the hereafter, as in this life.
26. Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah).

The Temple of the Tooth – a sacred symbol of power
The Temple of the Tooth or “Sri Dalada Maligawa” as its known in local terms is an important religious symbol for those of Buddhist faith. This priceless relic is said to hold the upper left canine tooth of Lord Buddha. It is also said that it was smuggled into the island by Prince Dantha and Princess Hemamali from India after being removed from the holy body of Buddha as he lay in his deathbed. This sacred tooth was also considered a symbol of power when it came to internal politics. Centuries ago when Sinhalese Kings ruled the island, keeping the tooth relic safe was top priority because he who possessed this sacred item was seen as the ruler of the empire.
After years of changing hands and seeing new temple sanctuaries where it was placed for safe keeping, the sacred tooth is now resting in the hill capital of Kandy where local pilgrims and foreigners visit this temple daily to witness the magnificent artistry within the premises and to pay their respects to the sacred tooth itself. An annual parade is held in the city of Kandy to show off this relic. This tradition started off as a means of displaying the ownership of the tooth which was carried out by various kings who claimed it. Now this event is a much awaited cultural festival in the local calendar and is even anticipated by foreigners who travel to the region. Colorful, fiery dancers line up along the street dancing and breathing fire as they pave the way for the elephant parade that follows carrying the sacred tooth relic.
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Temple of the Tooth is decorated in hundreds of colorful paintings that depict certain historically valuable religious happenings which are related to the current location of the tooth and its previous owners.
Sri Lanka hotels that provide an array of outstanding services are available to travellers to the region. John Keells Hotels Group offers travellers comfortable accommodation options in warm and relaxed locations of the island. Book your stay at a Kandy hotel where you can enjoy a pleasant vacation among the hills of paradise.

What You Should Know About Christian Dating Services Before You Commit
You may have been thinking about joining an online Christian dating service, but have not been sure about where to find the best service because there are so many to choose from. And when you find it you want to be able to find the best dating match for you, even your soul mate or eventually a life partner. Ultimately you want to be willing to be open to meeting someone new providing you meet in a safe place.
You can easily discover Christian love and friendship today with photos and profiles and through Christian message boards. It’s been more than ten years that dating services have been accessible online.
Study the matchmaking or dating service contract cautiously. Are you signing up for a contract for a particular time period that you can not exit in the event you discover someone or wish to discontinue? Once you find someone who appears to match your needs enough to meet after emailing a few times, ask to talk on the telephone first prior to getting together offline. Typing in ‘Christian’ when you’re setting up a profile on a non-Christian dating service will show you how many matches or possibilities there are for you should you decide to sign up at the end of your free trial.
It is conceivable that a large-scale general dating service could have a lot more Christian members than a small-scale Christian dating service. You might wish to look for the Christian substance that most of the subscribers look for while assessing dating services. Many of the dating services on the Internet have more than one million registered users.
You will discover there are quite a few dating services online; several are immense with highly recognizable names and have a Christian dating division. Look in your local phone book business section under “Dating Services” and “Singles Organizations” for your region; give them all a phone call even if not listed as Christian and ask if they have a Christian section; if not, they might or might not be inclined to refer you to possible competitors. If you are not able to line up a Christian dating service you’d be content with, then find a respected general dating service and state in your profile that you are seeking a discriminating Christian woman, man or teen, or additional specifics such as ethnic group, orthodox, Catholic, and so forth. A lot of trustworthy members of these dating services are Christians.
Many local Christian singles groups don’t do any commercializing or publicizing to promote their group and hinge upon word of mouth by singles or churchgoers to enroll new members. Local churches that feature Christian singles groups are a safe gathering place and in all likelihood a free Christian dating service at that.
Whether you are seeking a more casual relationship, or something more serious, today is the time to get going; check into a few websites now. There are numerous advantages to free Internet Christian dating services for dedicated Christians instead of non-Christian services since these sites understand their needs. Regrettably most churches do not have the resources to fill these needs.

Single Muslim Women – Equal to Men Yet Different
Whether it be single muslim women or men the Koran is addressed to all the muslims and it says that the male and female ‘were created of the single soul ‘.The women’s right as per the islam religion are the right to obtain education, to work and earn, to own independent property, equality of rewards for equal work, to express the opinion and to be heard, to refuse marriage that does not please her and so on and so forth.
Women’s dress as per the Islamic culture is based on the principle of female modesty, purity and chastity. Some of them wear a modest dress which includes loose clothing and a scarf over the head and under the chin, and some wear a burkah which is a complete covering from head, face down to the toes.
Muslim women have played a vital role in the Muslim community. Early muslim women served the community through scholarships, teaching, nursing and other important activities. In Islam there is absolutely no difference between the men and the women as far as the relationship to Allah is concerned, as both are rewarded in the same way for good conduct and punished in the same way for bad conduct.
Single Muslim women have certain restrictions in the society. They cannot expose their beauty; they should not go to public baths and swimming pools during the common hours where men also come. They must lower their eyes and not see men with bad intentions. They should be careful in the dance halls and gymnasiums and they should be allowed to go to the mosque if they desire so.
The only Muslim country which forces the women to wear hijab is Iran. In other countries, the women are given a choice about the hijab depending upon the degree of faith they have in the reading of the religious texts. The hijab should be worn only when she goes out of her family home. A Muslim female is required to dress in a particular way when she goes in the public. A Kashmiri Muslim woman wears a loose pheran up to knee length. They also wear bunches of ear rings, the weight of it will be supported by a thick silver chain. On the whole, the women’s modest dress protects the society from adultery and other illegal sexual relations that lead to the break up of families and corruption of the society.
Muslim men and women must lower their gazes. They should not mix with each other. There is no dating, dancing, or mixed social gatherings in Islam. To help the men and women to find their best life partner without dating in person, there are many dating agencies and online agencies which help them to come across prospective partners sitting at home.
The modern Muslims have become broadminded and there is a lot of understanding and little more freedom is given to the younger generation but at the same time the knowledge of Koran and the religious faith is kept under consideration.
Single Muslim women stuck between talks of equality and restrictions imposed.

Sun into Gemini 2010: Prometheus’ Flames Burning Brightly
Conventional wisdom in astrology asserts that the mutable signs are the subdued ones, those gentle, affable energies responsible for finishing up their respective seasons. For example, Sagittarius closes the autumn, Pisces winds down the winter, and so forth. To say the least, 2010 is a year when convention is being turned on its head. While the 2010 Sun through Gemini cycle brings spring to its annual conclusion, in keeping with the revolutionary sentiment abuzz on the airwaves, it also ushers in the start of the T-square and sets the stage for the Grand Cross. a series of impressive alignments we have not experienced simultaneously for centuries. So rather than a mild cycle of finishing affairs, major events will just be getting underway during this transit. Gemini’s versatility, ability to think on its feet and adaptability are our keys to peacefully maneuvering through the headline-making solar cycle and summer ahead.
To put the upcoming events into context, we need to understand the mechanics of the T-square and to distinguish it from the Grand Cross. Visualize the face of a clock with Saturn in Libra at 9 o’clock, Pluto in Capricorn at 6 o’clock at the bottom and Uranus and Jupiter in Aries at 3 o’clock. This alignment is what astrologers call a T-square. Now add the Sun in Cancer at 12 o’clock to the top of the picture. This is what astrologers call a Grand Cross. In both alignments the planets form oppositions and squares to each other. As the names imply, oppositions and squares are the more contentious angles in astrology. They tend to bring things to a head and force decisions. Note how Saturn opposes Jupiter and Uranus in both charts and how Pluto and the Sun come into opposition in the Grand Cross. In the T-square, Saturn squares Pluto which also squares Jupiter and Uranus. In the Grand Cross, Jupiter and Uranus square the Sun which also squares Saturn. Next, four of these planets, Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter and Uranus, are outer planets, those thought to represent our larger world and collective experiences. Finally, all of the signs involved in both formations are the cardinal ones. These are the zodiac’s provocative energies, the instigative energies responsible for starting their respective seasons, Aries spring, Cancer summer, and so on. They set things off so to speak.
But the Sun isn’t in Cancer you astutely note; it’s at 11 o’clock or Gemini. Yes, on May 20th at 8:34 P.M. PST it moves there, but by the summer solstice of June 21st, it arrives in Cancer. For those of you paying even closer attention to your astrology these days, you’ll likely also note that Saturn is also presently not in this exact alignment because it has retrograded back into late degrees of Virgo, to about 8:54 on our clock. Correct you are. But on May 31st, the planet ruling lessons, structure and discipline turns direct and sets its course for Libra where it will arrive on July 21st. As the Gemini solar cycle begins indeed Jupiter and Uranus are spending their last days in dreamy Pisces, at about 2:58. However, on the full moon of May 27th wired, rule-breaking Uranus heads into the aggressive, fire sign Aries, and expansive Jupiter follows suit on June 6th and also heads into the feisty energies of the sign of the Warrior. What is important here is that these planets are traveling in very close degrees in their respective signs, thus creating more precision and intensity in the T-square and Grand Cross. It is also worth noting that on the full moon of June 26th the moon will join Pluto in the cardinal sign of Capricorn, strengthening that Cross on the day of an eclipse.
To get some insight into how the T-square, which will last into late 2012, might play out, we can look at the history of some of the transits involved, such as Pluto in Capricorn. The last time the planet of destruction and transformation traveled through the sign that rules governments and institutions was 1762-1778, when the American Revolution brought the beginning of the end of monarchy as the world’s ruling “system.” The previous Pluto Capricorn transit was from 1516-1532. In 1510 Martin Luther traveled to Rome where he witnessed the extent of the corruption, including the sale of Indulgences, of the then almighty Roman Catholic Church. Determined to change what he saw, one year into this tumultuous transit, in 1517, Luther initiated the Protestant Reformation. Protest and reform are indeed an integral part of the language of Pluto in Capricorn.
The ruling institution most likely to be radically altered this time around, 2008-2023, is the corporation. Current examples of its authority being challenged include the sweeping financial reform bill now in Congress and President Obama’s recent decision to better regulate the major oil companies by separating the revenue collection and enforcement powers of the Minerals Management Service. Activist Jamie Oliver has launched a widely embraced “Food Revolution” and Buddhist scholar and Columbia University Professor Robert Thurman an “inner Revolution,” and we have one political party relying heavily on imagery from the American Revolution while a growing trend amongst voters is to register as Independents. With this T-square, the already charged political atmosphere will be given extra voltage from electrifying, innovative Uranus moving through pioneering Aries (from May 27, 2010-May 15, 2018). The last time we experienced a Uranus Aries transit was 1927-1934, when it was part of another T-square. It’s also interesting to note that during the 1762-1778 Pluto through Capricorn cycle, Uranus transited through confrontational, autonomous Aries from 1760-1768, when the British government passed the Stamp Act and other incendiary legislation that would ultimately lead to the War for Independence. Also, during that Pluto transit, Saturn went through justice-seeking Libra from September 1774 through December 1776, during which time the American Declaration of Independence was signed. What is significantly different in the summer of 2010 is that all three of these major transits will occur simultaneously, from July 21st – August 13th, they will be very close in degree to one another, and Jupiter will be adding its magnifying energy to the mix as it travels along side Uranus. The two are in fact conjunct (at the same exact spot) on June 8th.
The sign of journalism, travel and international commerce, Gemini will have a keen eye on global events. International affairs in the spotlight while the Sun moves through the sign of the Twins include the World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa, the escalating push of the U.S. military into the major urban front of Kandahar, Afghanistan, the European financial crisis and activity at the Federal Reserve. While we in America are inclined to think of the Fed as a domestic entity, its role in global markets is noteworthy. Its chart is set to be heavily impacted by the coming T-square and Grand Cross, and on June 3rd and 21st we may get a glimpse into what’s ahead. I’ll be writing more about the charts of the Fed and Cancer born U.S. next month in the Sun through Cancer/Grand Cross edition of this series.
While 2010 may or may not be the official “dawning of the Age of Aquarius,” a dramatic and transformational time is clearly upon us. Remembering the legend behind the namesake sign of this New Age, the story of Prometheus, can serve and inspire us. From Mark Husson’s “Lovescopes”:
“One of the ways Zeus maintained power over the mortals was to keep them in the dark-literally. He forbade anyone on Olympus to teach them how to wield fire. Being one of the brighter gods, Prometheus didn’t like the suffering this caused humans, so he brought them this forbidden element, forever changing their existence. Because Prometheus broke the rules, Zeus chained him to the top of a mountain and ordered an eagle to eat out his liver – only for it to re-grow and be eaten day after day.”
In times of uncertainty, and in the face of seemingly invisible hands that ravage the earth, loot the financial systems and fund corrupt political systems, what Light, what Fire, will you be in the world?

Books In Sync Recognizes For A Second Year Author A. Colin Wright
About The Author: A. Colin Wright was born and raised in Chelmsford, Essex, England. After serving as a linguist in the British Royal Air Force, Wright attended Cambridge University, where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees. In 1961 he lived for six months in Sassari, Sardinia, followed the next year by a longer period in Reggio Calabria. He speaks six languages reasonably fluently (including Italian), and can stumble along in two more. In 1964, he was appointed professor of Russian at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He remained at Queen’s until his retirement in 1999 and still resides there today. Dr. Wright is married and has two grown sons.
“Based on his own time on Sardinia, Wright’s recent captivating and oftentimes hilarious novel Sardinian Silver follows the exploits of a young man trying to find love while assimilating to an archaically orthodox society. Sardinia in the 1960s was still very culturally undeveloped: the residents viewed mainland Italians and continentals (the British counted among them) as immoral and contaminated by modern society.
Featuring: Sardinian Silver by A. Colin Wright
To Arthur Fraser, a young Englishman, Sardinia in 1960 is perfect. It’s an island filled with Roman ruins, exotic scenery, local customs, and morally traditional values-he loves everything. To assimilate into the strange and belong to a society different from his own has always been his desire. Arthur arrives in the resort town of Alghero to work as a representative for a tourist company. His ambition is to find a Sard girl for himself. He is quickly thwarted, though, by the orthodox beliefs of the inhabitants. Unmarried couples cannot meet without chaperones, and anyone with “continental” attitudes is immoral. Arthur quickly learns that dating is fraught with real dangers. When Arthur finally falls in love with Anna, a Sard girl, he discovers that she lives in Rome and is no longer accepted at home. But she then falls in love with one of his best friends, and Arthur becomes irrationally obsessed. He incessantly schemes about winning back her affections, despite her efforts to dissuade him. In Sardinian Silver, author Wright masterfully evokes a mysterious society, its flamboyant people, and the Island’s beauty. Like Arthur, you’ll never want to leave Sardinia, with its wide sands, low hills, sun, and blue sea and its superficial pleasantness of life.

Audio Review: the Book of Psalms Read by Michael York
Michael York has a wonderful reading voice for the Psalms
In my imagination, I think that the Psalms read by Michael York are read as if commissioned by King David. I can’t say as if King David himself were reading the Psalms, for that isn’t as accurate as the former, for the reading is clearly one spoken with eloquence fit for any hearer, even King David. High praise, are those remarks, and this collection of The Psalms are worth such praise.
The style of the reading is clear, musical without musical background but punctuated by musical notes between readings. The imagination given by Michael York, and there is that high praise again for this reading of 150 Psalms, comes through for these are rich and moving readings that involve the listener. I have had a set of these tapes for many years, given one set as a gift only to discover that they are to be found only among the used category for sale. Sadly, there will be a time when the set may go out of print. This is my second set of this collection.
As a note of comparison, there is a collection of readings of the King James Version of the Bible’s New Testament read by Gregory Peck. Like Mr. Peck, Mr. York has a distinct voice that shows he is a noteworthy voice of merit and offers an understanding of what he is reading, without getting in the way of the words or the text. To say that he is a man with a trained voice and excellent diction, like Mr. Gregory Peck, is to my way of thinking and listening accurate.
I have a number of “recorded” readings of Biblical material, including Gregory Peck, Sir Laurence Olivier, Alexander Scourby, and the out of print “The Bible” (the Old Testament in King James Version) read by numbers of actors with excellent voices. Michael York’s reading of The Psalms is certainly a central part of my collection of such audio recordings, and his voice is as distinct and memorable as any, if not more so. Hear him say, “Selah,” and you will know there is quality to both the recording and his interpretation.
For a complete, unabridged reading of the King James Version of The Psalms, one can be pleased to own and listen to this understandable and distinguished recording where Michael York reads memorably and so well these wonderful words of The Psalms.

Islamic Teachings and Beliefs
The religion Islam does not believe in the concept of “original sin.” According to the teachings of Islam, people are born guiltless. They remain so until an individual himself or herself, commits a sinful deed. Islam is neither an ethnocentric nor a sacramental religion. The followers of this religion observe no sacraments. Anyone can become a Muslim by his/ her discretion. Introduction to Islam involves no sacramental ceremony, no involvement by any clergy, and no authentication by any organized body. All that a true Moslem needs to do is follow the teachings of Islam. These teachings are:
Doctrine of God: Islam is a strictly monotheistic religion. The followers of Islam believe that there is no other God than Allah.
Doctrine of Angels: The throne of God is surrounded by Angels. They serve as His messenger to people. The most important of all angels is Gabriel. Iblis is a fallen angel, he is also referred to as the Satan or Devil. He has authority over the djinns who are male and female demons.
Doctrine of Inspired Books: The Moslems believe in the sacred books which include the Torah, the Gospel of Jesus, the Psalms, and the Koran (Qur’an). The followers of Islam believe that Koran is the only book which is completely error free. Sections of the holy book Koran have resemblance to the Bible, the Apocrypha, and the Jewish Talmud. There are many stories in Koran that are similar to stories of various prophets in the Old Testament.
Koran is somewhat shorter in length than the New Testament. Islam’s followers are expected to memorize as much of the Koran as they can. Those who memorize the whole book by heart are highly honored.
Doctrine of Prophets: According to the teachings of Islam, there are many persons who are considered to be prophets. Among them are Abraham, Ishmael, Moses, Noah, John the Baptist, Jesus, and Mohammed. Mohammed is considered to be last prophet. His proclamations completed the message sent by God to people.
Doctrine of Last Judgment: Moslems believe that there will be a day of final judgment. At that time, the non-believers will be sentenced to the burning fires of hell, while the believers will enter heaven. However, the pleasures of heaven will be given to the believers according to the degree of faith and morality they displayed in their lifetime.
The followers of Islam believe that the moral and legal codes of Islam apply to all areas of human life.
The Major Religions of the World….Revisited book includes information about Islamic religion and beliefs; and its comparison with worlds other 4 major religions Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism and Judaism.
